Despite the uncertainties that plagued Michael Schumacher's recovery, his family who is headed by wife Corinna, his kids Mick and Gina-Maria as well his longtime manager Sabine Kehm are still full of hope that the 47-year-old German Formula One legend will fully recover.
Ever since Michael Schumacher's tragic skiing accident in December 2013 at the French Alpine resort of Meribel, there have been little to no up-to-date reports about Schumi's health condition and recovery. The reason? His family has requested for a media blackout to avoid erroneous reports to be run by the press.
There Is Still Hope For Michael Schumacher's Recovery
During Sabine Kehm's acceptance speech on behalf of Michael Schumacher at the Nurburgring on May 27, Kehm told the audience that there's still hope for the seven-time world champion's recovery. According to Grand Prix, Kehm's statements came when she accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award honoring the German F1 legend.
"I realize we would all like it if Michael himself could be here, but unfortunately that is not possible," Kehm said, as per Sports Mole. "We have to accept it and learn to deal with it. We will continue to hope and do everything so that it will be different again."
Kehm also added that the award was a recognition of Michael Schumacher's contribution in the world of car racing. Kehm also emphasized Schumi's skills and work ethic.
"This award is an acknowledgement of his great willpower, his motivation, his talent, his discipline and his work ethic," Kehm added.
Michael Schumacher Is Responding Well To Treatments
In an interview with CNN's The Circuit at his office in Rome, former Ferrari boss Luca Di Montezemolo shared his thoughts on Michael Schumacher's current health condition. The 68-year-old Italian businessman hinted that the stricken F1 superstar is responding well to treatments but he didn't give any further elaboration on what he meant, only noting Schumi's determination and strength.
"I'm very pleased to know that he is reacting," Di Montezemolo said. "I know how strong he is. I'm sure that thanks to his determination - which will be crucial - he will come out from this very, very difficult situation... And I really hope."
