Jennifer Lopez Weight Loss Regimen: How Effective Is BodyLab Supplement For Moms?

Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez ventured into the weight loss business by partnering with BodyLab in 2014. The company produces supplements that aid in weight loss and has women and moms as its main target markets. But just how effective is BodyLab?

Daily Mail reports that Jennifer Lopez's weight loss regimen, BodyLab, has helped her shave ten percent off her body fat. She also swears by the formula that the company uses in its products because it's especially geared for women. In a clinical testing for BodyLab, which had only women respondents, many reported to having shaved off two inches from their waist and hips by drinking the weight loss supplements. The products are marketed in a way that indicates the company understands a women's physiology better than any other weight loss company.

Jennifer Lopez told Shape in January 2015 that there is no magic weight loss diet pill. "But we've tried to make it easy and effective and maintainable," she said, in reference to BodyLab. Jennifer Lopez also said that the weight loss pill will work for moms and women who have no more time to exercise at the gym. Aside from the pill, BodyLab also has shake supplements and other weight loss products via their official site.

But skeptics aren't buying the products' promise even as the company is expanding and launching in other countries, such as the U.K. A nutritionist, Hilary Kingston, who spoke with Daily Mail stated that many of the ingredients used in BodyLab will work for women who are completely healthy already, but it won't work for those with serious weight problems. One fitness trainer, Kat Whitfield, actually cites BodyLab products as "fairly useless," per The Washington Post.

In most cases, weight loss products with celebrity endorsers are overpriced supplements, stated Whitfield. She also warns moms to be more discerning about "legitimate" weight loss solutions. The experts recommend that for women and moms who are really serious about losing weight and their health to try methods that have proven to work true for centuries: proper diet and exercise.
