Scrotum Lifts For Body Conscious Men Is The New Male Grooming Trend

Demand for operations to remove saggy skin in the scrotum area soars among men who are body conscious. Scrotoplasty is the procedure that reduces, repairs and reconstructs the scrotum to remove excess scrotal skin.

Scrotal lifts are the latest trend in male groin grooming, as there has been a steady increase in the number of men having genital surgery. The popularity of the procedure has risen in the past 18 months as older gentleman over 50 years old are mostly interested in the procedure.

The number of men undergoing cosmetic procedures has doubled in the past ten years, according to data from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Today, scrotoplasty is now offered in clinics alongside more established procedures such as nose jobs and breast augmentation.

In the past, the operation was carried out to correct any abnormalities or for people who had suffered an injury in the scrotum area. The operation is also used to treat cancer patients, according to Daily Mail.

Scrotoplasty is mostly sought for cosmetic reasons rather than functional reasons, according to Roger Bigwood, clinical director at Bella Vou Pantiles Clinic. The main motivator behind the procedure is to reverse the signs of aging, according to Gerald Lambe, spokesperson for the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeries and a consultant plastic surgeon from Cheshire. Lambe says that the procedure is for men who are trying to keep themselves looking and feeling good as long as possible.

Scrotums are mainly made of muscle that is designed to tighten and loosen for sperm temperature regulation. But similar to breasts in women, scrotums tend to lose tone due to age and gravity. In some cases, saggy skin in the private area can cause discomfort as the skin can get caught in clothing.

The procedure itself is very simple and is minimally invasive but only a handful of cosmetic surgeons have experience in doing the operation. The procedure works by removing the excess skin to rejoin the muscle at the scrotum seam to eliminate scarring.

The operation is performed under local anesthetic and takes a little over an hour to complete. Sperm production is also not affected by the procedure, according to Telegraph. The area can be tender for a few days which is why patients are advised to stay away from any sexual activities.
