When you finally conceived after a long time of trying and failing, you want to make sure nothing will go wrong this time and that you will deliver a healthy baby. That is what happened to actress Laura Linney, who kept silent about her pregnancy at the age of 49.
Laura Linney Didn't Hide
The "Love Actually" star on Friday appeared on "Live! With Kelly" where she shared why her pregnancy at that time was little known to the public, ET Online reported. Kelly Rapa told Linney that the last time she was on their show, she was apparently pregnant, but they didn't know. Linney, now 52, said, "Well, I was an older mother-to-be, and it had taken me a very long time to have a child. I wanted to make sure that my child actually arrived, and was safe and healthy."
Linney said though that her silence was not intentional and she didn't just advertise it. She wasn't hiding and in fact, she was going to the theater at eight months. "No one said a thing," she told Kelly Rapa. "I mean, I wasn't hiding, and then when I actually had the baby, this big deal was made about, 'She was secret, secret, secret!' And no, I just didn't have a sign that said, 'Hi, I'm pregnant now.'"
Linney gave birth to her first child with husband Marc Schauer in 2014. Their son is now 2 years old.
Pregnancy At A Later Age
Getting pregnant at a later age comes with several risks, no wonder Laura Linney was concerned too. According to Baby Centre, moms-to-be who are older than 35 have higher risks of miscarriage and other ongoing health conditions that might affect the pregnancy and the birth. Other common complications include multiple pregnancy, gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia and placental abruption. Meanwhile, despite the age, older mothers are still likely to carry healthy baby, so try not to be anxious about it.
