"Supergirl" is making more changes in Season 2, aside from moving to a new network and shifting filming locations in Canada. Producers have revealed that they are in the phase of casting five new characters, including Lex Luthor's sister, Lena Luthor. Who else is joining Kara in the upcoming season?
TV Line reports that "Supergirl" Season 2 is not just having Superman in the first few episodes. It is also looking to add two new series regulars and three recurring characters. Readers of the DC comic book series might recognize their names and they are:
Lena Luthor - She is the younger sister of Superman's nemesis at Metropolis, Lex Luthor. Lena moves to National City to get away from the shadow of her infamous brother. The character is described as "sexy and smart," with a determination to always get what she wants. So, what does she want? Viewers will find this out in "Supergirl" Season 2.
Nick Farrow - It looks like this new other series regular is going to come aboard CatCo as a news reporter. He's someone who will potentially have conflicts with Kara at work. He's described as formerly "selfish and hedonistic," but Kara's good vibes might rub off on him. Nick has a famous journalist for a parent.
The Doctor - She is the new female villain character who is linked to Project Cadmus. iO9 also reports that she's known as Serling Roquette in the comics, but it is not yet known if the character's name will be changed for "Supergirl" Season 2.
Snapper Carr - The name is familiar to "Justice League" comic book readers, but in the "Supergirl" world on television, Carr is a veteran journalist, per iO9. He's also joining CatCo and will be in charge of the news division. He will insist to sticking to the old school ways of news reporting.
TV Guide reports that Carr's addition could be the show's answer to addressing the problem with Calista Flockhart's reduced screen time. The actress, who plays Cat Grant, will be seen in fewer episodes this time around because she is not willing to uproot her settled life to work in Canada, where "Supergirl" films.
Maggie - The lesbian cop is another comic-book inspired character who is in charge of cases relating to aliens or superhumans. Cinema Blend reports that Maggie has also appeared as a police detective in Gotham City and Metropolis. She has dealt with both Batman and Superman.
Interestingly enough, Maggie had a romantic relationship with a woman named Kate in the comics. Kate's alter ego is Batwoman. Could viewers of "Supergirl" be expecting this superhero to drop in on the show in succeeding episodes too? "Supergirl" Season 2 is expected to return in October on The CW.
