In an interview with Peter Nowalk, the showrunner reveals some interesting explanation about the season finale and more details on what's to come.

"How to Get Away with Murder" Season 3 spoilers note on the possible suspects behind Wallace's shooting during the Season 2 finale. One of the fan theories out there is that Frank (Charlie Weber) was responsible for the shot in order to make it up to Annalise (Viola Davis).
In an interview with TVGuide.com, showrunner Peter Nowalk revealed that the identity of the shooter can still change. Nowalk said that he has an idea as to which character was responsible for the shot, but he and the writers always love to come up with ways to surprise fans on "HTGAWM."
Frank's whereabouts is also expected to be revealed in "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 3. As fans can recall, Annalise decided to cut Frank off from her life after discovering that the latter was responsible for the death of her child.
Nowalk explained that the details behind Frank's story and how he knew Sam will be explored on "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 3. Wes will also need to determine whether Annalise was telling the truth about Wallace being his real father.
Fans may also see more of Asher and Michaela's romance in "How to Get Away with Murder" Season 3. According to TVLine, Asher and Michaela's relationship is more than just a hookup.
"Caleb was a crazy, freaking sociopath, so it makes sense to me why she might want to just choose the simple guy who's right in front of her," he said. "In many ways, Asher is a really good boyfriend."
