Sony Set to Make Big Waves at E3 2016; Microsoft to Lose Again?

E3 2016 is right around the corner and many technology enthusiasts are patiently awaiting the latest announcements from industry heavyweights such as Microsoft and Sony. There have been clues and sneak peeks about what Sony will showcase in the expo, with most claiming that they will focus on virtual reality (VR) technology and its use in gaming.

There is no question that Sony and Microsoft are the two companies that are currently dominating the video game industry. However, many publications such as Venture Beat are reporting that this year will be Sony's year. They have also come out and said that Microsoft needs to step up its game if they hope to keep up with Sony.

One of Sony's big talking points is the PS4 Neo, which is a more powerful PS4 that can support 4K resolutions. In spite of this, reports from Polygon claim that Sony will not be talking much about the Neo and that it would be a smart move to do so. This is because it would allow Sony to focus on existing technologies such as the current PS4 and the aforementioned virtual reality technology.

This would give Sony room to make the announcement at a later date and possibly create more hype for the Neo. Since the Xbox One has been losing the console race from the start of the current generation, it would be wise for Sony to hold of any announcements surrounding any new consoles.

Multiple independent and third party IPs have already been announced and for sure more will be announced at this year's E3. Games such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Gran Turismo Sport have already been tipped to appear at E3 2016. Multiple rumors have also been making the rounds including speculation on God of War 4 and Knack 2 announcements as well as brand new game from Sony Bend.
