Gillette hosted a campaign with a hashtag #goaskdad. This timely campaign during this year's father's day is a reminder to young generations that despite the advancement in technology, some things are to go back to. One of which is including your dad in your life.
According to The Stir, the reason why they set up this campaign, is that they have noticed that in this day and age, young children who are very familiar with using the internet are so out of touch from the people that really matters most. Such of those people are their very own dads.
Nowadays, instead of asking their dads random facts about life, young kids turn to the internet. The Gillette campaign showed several dads and their kids coming from different countries. They were interviewed and was asked to turn to the internet for answers.
Things that they asked from the internet was how to put on a tie, how to cook an egg, how to ask a lady out and how to shave. They tried to follow the instructions from Youtube with some struggles. Some of them got pleased when they were able to complete the task. This however did not end there.
On the second portion, their dads were allowed inside the room. This time instead of asking the internet, they were instructed to ask dad instead, and boy! They saw the big difference!
Towards the end, they were asked who was the better teacher. The internet? Or was it their dads? All of them went to agree that their dads were the better teacher. After the follow up question why? One of them expressed how it was.
He said that asking his father was a lot better because it was more personal and that he was taught well. All the boys in the campaign went to hug their fathers afterwards.
Thank you Gillette company for reviving the father and son relationship. We all need our fathers to be there, and they should be the first one we run to when we want to know something.
