X-Rider Car of Step 2 Recalled due to Fall Hazard

Authorities have issued voluntary recall of a riding toy to avoid a fall hazard.

Nearly 15,500 units of a children's riding toy known as X-Rider Car manufactured by The Step 2 Company LLC, of Streetsboro, Ohio, have been included in the recall notice issued by The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Tuesday.

The recalled X-Rider Car, costs $25, was available at Target and other retailers across the country between January 2012 and August 2012. According to the recall notice, children who lean forward on the seat can lose balance and fall down.

The present recall comes after the company received four incidents of children getting injuries like head bumps, concussions and cuts while using the toy.

"Although the toy has been tested and meets stability standards, Step2 has received four reports, including two reports of injury, that children attempting to move the cars with their feet leaned forward too far on the seat and went over the handlebar," read a statement on the company's website.

The recalled red plastic toy scooter has a yellow handlebar and seat, with two blue stickers serving as headlights. Information of the company is provided on the left side of the X-Rider Car. Authorities urged consumers to stop using the recalled product to ensure safety and to approach the company to receive a replacement toy.

"If your child is using an X-Rider Car, STOP USING IT IMMEDIATELY and keep it away from the child," the company stated.

Consumers can receive a replacement by filling out a form provided in the company website or contacting the company at (866) 860-1887 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST Monday to Friday.
