It's not quite surprising to hear or read about "The Big Bang Theory" cancellation rumors or cast members' exit nowadays. In fact, the show has been constantly haunted with speculations that the upcoming 10th season will be its last.
No More 'The Big Bang Theory' Seasons After Season 10?
The rumors about "The Big Bang Theory" finale after 10 seasons were actually ignited after the show's executive producer Steven Molaro's interview last December hinted the possibility that the series may end after its season. According to Molaro, he had already some ideas on how to conclude the entire show.
"I can't speak to the future or on behalf of the cast or where we'll be then but it's certainly possible that it could go past that," Molaro told The Hollywood Reporter. "The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point. The real answer is I don't know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can."
The Future Of 'The Big Bang Theory'
In a Can-India report, however, Molaro gave a contrasting statement about the future of "The Big Bang Theory." Based on the written article, Molaro reportedly hinted that there could be more seasons after season 10.
"The writers are still so devoted and on top of it, the stories that come out are still so much fun to play - there's no drudgery aspect to this," Molaro said.
Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki Leaving 'The Big Bang Theory'?
Aside from the opposing statements of Molaro, it has also been rumored that there will be no "The Big Bang Theory" season 11 after the upcoming season 10 this fall because the contracts of lead stars Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki, who play the role of on-screen couple Penny and Leonard respectively, will be expiring by the end of season 10. Rumors have it that there are no plans for a contract renewal, not to mention the negotiations between CBS and Warner Bros. appear to be unfavorable, Australia Network News notes.
In March, however, Cuoco told TVLine that she's more than willing to reprise her role in the future seasons of "The Big Bang Theory." In fact, she hinted that she'll be on the show for a long haul.
"I think it's a given that we want to be here. That's the overall consensus," Cuoco said. "It might be a sticky road, but if I have anything to do with it, we'd be here for much longer. That's the goal."
