Mother Realizes Baby in Viral Video Is Her Daughter, Fires Babysitter After Child Was Doused with Gallons of Water

An Indiana mother was horrified when she realized that the baby in a viral video that circulated on the social networking platform Facebook was seen doused with gallons of water while in the care of a babysitter.

The mother, identified as Brittany Dixson, was reportedly at work when she saw the video of a baby. The baby was sitting underneath a water dumping bucket at Greenwood. The area is a splash pad in Indiana, People reported. Dixson said in an interview that she remembered thinking when she first saw the video why someone would put a child underneath an area with so much water being poured at once. Her child is only 7 months old named Annora.

Dixson added that it is terrifying to think that someone could put her daughter in such a dangerous situation and that someone is actually the very person whom she trusts to watch over her child. She has since fired the baby sitter and now thinks that she could never trust anyone with her child again.

In the video clip, the baby is seen directly under the water dumping bucket and the babysitter was standing near the child. It seemed like the babysitter was looking the other way when the water dumping bucket doused the child. She carried the baby immediately after the water was poured to the seven-month-old child. It was unclear what happened after the baby was taken away from the area.

Dixson continued to share that she took her baby to the hospital as she feared for her daughter's life. She added, "She could have inhaled so much water once she went to sleep that night she could have actually drowned in her sleep because the water would have been trapped in her lungs." Fortunately, doctors said she had no water in her lungs but they said they were glad she thought about bringing her in because it was a major possibility since gallons of water was poured over her.

The mother said that the one who posted the video, identified as Desiree Howell, witnessed the baby sitter making the baby walk on hot pavement, pushed her too high while on a swing, and stuck the girl's face directly into a sprinkler. In the video post, Howell wrote, "Baby is crying. And swallowing this water. Pray this baby won't drown in her sleep." She also said in her post that the babysitter has been yelling at the baby when she cried.

The Greenwood Police Department and the Department of Child Services is investigating the matter.
