What a way to end HBO's highly watched series: Loras gets tattooed, while Margaery and the others in the Sept of Balor get burned to death. For those who can't get enough of the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 finale, time to prepare yourselves:
Aptly named "Winds of Winter", it sure was appropriate for the circumstances for some of the players on the "Game of Thrones" series, according to a Radio Times blog post. A lot of the main characters for today's episode had dire endings, like that of Walder Frey (whom "Faceless girl" Arya Stark finally killed) when Jamie Lannister and his troops left to go back to King's Landing for yet another considerably victorious, but sad news.
Remember when Cersei was told by a rumored witch that her children would die before her? Well, it did came true. As boy-king Tommen gazed in shock at the Sept of Balor turning to ash before his very eyes, he relinquished his crown and took the next step - down to his death.
In a related Wall Street Journal post about 'Game of Thrones,' Winterfell sees snow starting to descend on the land as Lord Davos meets with Melissandre and Jon Snow, whereupon the Red Priestess gets slammed for the death of Lord Davos' friend Princess Shireen. Melissandre is turned away by both Snow and Davos, and commanded to turn South for escape lest she be executed, too.
Sansa apologizes to Jon Snow for hiding the aid from the Vale Knights during the "Battle of the Bastards" episode (courtesy of Little Finger Baelish). The two siblings reconcile and all seems well, until Peter Baelish reminds Sansa of their agreement. Sansa's maturing insight, however, tells her to temporarily ignore his advances and leaves.
Meanwhile, Bran and Meera are left by Uncle Benjen to continue his training as the new Three-eyed Raven. And his next vision was the absolute shocker of all: following his father Ned as a woman screams in the Tower of Joy, Bran finally gets to realize it was his Aunt Lyanna dying while giving birth to her and Prince Rhaegar's child, Jon Snow.
Back at Winterfell, Jon Snow gets recognition from a Lady Mormont, who successfully rallied everyone present to declare their loyalties once again, saying "The North Remembers", much to the delight of the Stark siblings and Baelish's disappointment. However, surely Baelish already has a back-up plan to counter as he ultimately wants the Iron Throne for himself.
Daenerys gets pep talked by Tyrion on the reality of being in the game ahead, and she makes him her new Hand of The Queen. Rather fitting as she even broke up with Daario to pursue the Iron Throne ambition, together with the Iron Islands' fleet and new friends Yara and Theon Greyjoy.
Well, it may have been a really tough time coping with her youngest son's suicide, but Cersei somehow finally got herself back in absolute power as the new Queen on the Iron Throne. As she waits for her brother Jamie's return, who knows what she plans next? The Game of Thrones season 6 finale was truly awesome! And pretty sure, fans are excited for the sneak peeks and spoilers for Season 7.
