Teenage pregnancy and the rise of sexually transmitted diseases is an ongoing issue because of the lack quality sex education. Studies show that a good sex education could prevent young people to have sex an early age.
In an article posted by The Guardian, they said the United Nation noticed that sex education is not being prioritized these days. This subject lacks accurate information about sexuality and the whole matter of reproductive health.
This is quite a concern because it just shows that most of the youth today have no idea on what exactly the consequences of sex could do to them with their lack of knowledge. It is not enough that sex educators tell their students they should not do it because they are young. The awareness on the matter would enlighten them, which could make them create a sound and wise that would benefit their life.
The Irish Times also reported that children who have gone through sex education still don't have enough information about this issue, as they snigger on words involved when two people decide to procreate. The facts and figures given to them are very limited, which makes the tendency of them having sex earlier than they should is high.
But whatever it is that educational institutions lack in giving students sex education, parents at home should fulfill it. The problem also occurs when parents themselves don't get to give their children "the talk." Some parents find it awkward and think this subject is a taboo that should only be handled by professionals. The truth is, parents should even be the ones who could explain this matter to their children without sounding condemning but simply informative. This experience would even establish trust and bond between them and their child.
