EU Referendum: Not All Brits Have Clear Understanding Of The Referendum

Following the unforgettable Brexit vote last June 25th, Brits turned to Google to review basic information on what their votes actually accounted for, while many are still in the loop after Prime Minister David Cameron's exit after the campaign turnout. Questions which spiked in reference to the EU referendum topic for example, were as simple as "What is the EU", the New York Post reported.

With a 72 percent turnout for the Brexit campaign, it was clear for the Brits to favor leaving the EU, with a 1.3 million vote difference. However, other Google search queries such as " What it means to leave the EU" have also sparked suggestions from critics who felt that some of the voters weren't that mindful of their choice to go with the Leave campaign.

Some interviews made on Brits who voted Brexit said that their votes probably didn't matter a lot as the majority might still choose to remain, while a woman expressed deep worry about the future of her job after the polls. "I would go back to the polling station and vote to stay, simply because this morning, the reality is actually hitting, and the regrets are filling in that we actually left the EU," Mandy said.

A Reuters post also shared further insight on the aftermath of the historic Brexit vote, as former PM David Cameron has stated on not taking the formality on Britain's EU separation, while some politicians have raised doing a parliament vote before formally exiting the EU. The petition to do a 2nd referendum has garnered up to more than 3 million signatures within a matter of two days.

Meanwhile, other EU member countries such as Scotland have responded to vetoing the Brexit decision. However, the finalized outcome of such decision is being contested by a House of Lords' report, as Northern Ireland and Wales, aside from Scotland, are required to follow suit with the EU divorce.
