'Game of Thrones:' Jon Snow's Father Finally Revealed, HBO Confirms Speculations With Infographic

Jon Snow has been a household name since the start of "Game of Thrones" Season 5 and fans have been speculating who are his real parents making the theory L+R=J popular on social networking sites. HBO, the network where the show is being aired, has released a helpful infographic confirming that Jon Snow's parents are Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.

E! News reported that during the June 26 finale of "Game of Thrones" Season 5, it has been confirmed that Lyanna Stark, the sister of Ned, was proven to be the mother of Jon Snow. She made her brother promise to look after her son while she laid on her deathbed. However, the identity of Jon Snow's father was not confirmed until now.

Fans, however, believed that Rhaegar Targaryen is the father of Jon Snow as he reportedly abducted Lyanna when she was engaged to marry Robert Baratheon.

In the infographic by HBO, which contains all the different characters on the "Game of Thrones," it has been explained what their relationships are. In the legend below, red line means married or engaged, the orange line means allies, the blue line means guardian, the black line means parents, the broken black line means siblings, and the purple broken line means abducted while the green line means killed.

Jon Snow's photo is seen linked via a black line to Lyanna Stark and to Rhaegar Targaryen. It also shows that he indeed abducted Lyanna but was married to Elia Martell. That then makes Daenerys Targaryen the aunt of Jon Snow.

Most importantly after this revelation, Jon Snow has become a contender for the Iron Throne. Also, Jon Snow and Sansa Stark are not siblings but are cousins so the fans shipping them are possibly disappointed now.

It is unclear if Jon Snow will know about this secret since the only person who knows about it, Bran Stark, is hundreds of miles away. Many are asking if this will be reveled on "Game of Thrones" Season 6 making it all the more complicated as to who is the most deserving for the Iron Throne.

Kit Harington shared in a recent statement, "Thrones is really, at the heart of it, about dysfunctional families." Will his character ever know about his true identity? Sound off below what you think will happen on "Game of Thrones" Season 6.
