Kate Middleton Pregnant, Admitted to Hospital for Morning Sickness

Kate Middleton is pregnant; a statement posted Monday on the British Monarchy Facebook page confirmed the news.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby," the official statement said. "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news."

However, the mom-to-be has been admitted to hospital after experiencing a severe form of morning sickness known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

"The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter."

The Facebook account of the royal family has been pouring with thousands of messages from well-wishers since then. About 61,656 people "liked" the news, 9,567 shared it and 6,144 commented on it. "The final touch to a beautiful year for Her Majesty. We in Gibraltar have welcomed the news," one of the well-wishers wrote.

Rumors about the royal couple expecting their first child have been doing the rounds for a long time.

Speculation about the pregnancy first hit the Internet last November, when Middleton avoided peanut paste during her visit to Denmark. Some ladies prefer to avoid nuts during pregnancy to protect their babies from allergies. This made media to jump to the conclusion that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting. A royal insider denied the news.

In September, Star magazine reported Middleton's pregnancy news along with the gender of the unborn baby (girl) and the name her parents had decided for her (Diana). The news again took rounds last week after Radar Online reported about a possible baby announcement in December.

Middleton met Prince William while studying Art History at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. The couple started dating in 2002, got engaged in 2010 and tied the knot in 2011.
