World's Fattest Child Now On Crash Diet

A 10-year-old boy, who has been called the fattest child in the world, will be going on a crash diet to save his life. The boy is morbidly obese and his weight has made him unable to walk and attend school. The Indonesian boy wears a sarong only as no other clothes fit him.

Arya Permana lives with his mother and father, Rokayah and Ade Somantri, a farmer in Cipurwasari village in West Java. He weighs 192 kg. Local media reports that there have been people from nearby villages who have come to see the world's fattest child, according to The Telegraph.

Diet For The World's Fattest Child

Metro reported that Arya has been put on a brown rice diet by his parents to address his weight problem. "No mother wants to stop feeding her children but I am unfortunate and helpless. I have started putting him on brown rice diet. I am not sure if it help but this is the only thing I can do to stop him from growing bigger," Rokayah was quoted as saying.

The morbidly obese child had started to put on abnormal weight when he was two years old, according to the report. At first, the weight gain did not worry Rokayah and they were even happy because Arya was "healthy." A few years later, when he "bloated", they took him to a number of their village's doctors who reportedly did not find anything abnormal about his weight.

Arya's usual diet is made up of five meals a day which is good for two adults already, news.com.au reported. The five meals include rice, beef, fish, vegetable soup and traditional soy patty Tempeh.

"I have insufficient money to buy food to fulfil his large appetite. I borrow money so that he can eat. Of course, I cannot keep him starving," Ade was quoted as saying. Ade is said to make $180 a month. "I am exhausted now and I cannot afford expensive hospitals. But I hope to see my son perfectly normal one day," Ade added.
