You don't have to spend plenty of bucks to indulge your kids in fun-filled activities this summer. We compiled some cheap activities that won't require you to shell out more than $10 out of your hard-earned money.
Sponges And A Box Of Chalk
This idea from BuzzFeed involves children playing with a box of multicolored chalks to draw a bull's eye target game on, for instance, your driveway. They can use a couple of sponges or any material big enough to hit the targets.
Kite Flying
A cheap kite is easy to create. If you don't have time, though, you can just buy a ready-made one from a store, PopSugar wrote. Kids can take the kites to a nearby park and fly it to their hearts' content.
Bubble Wrap Stomp Painting
Popping bubble wraps are already fascinating, but it has other fun uses. Apartment Therapy has a simple concept for bubble wraps and it includes paint. Attach bubble wraps to your child's feet or hands and soak them in paint. Afterwards, allow the kids to stomp on a big sheet of paper or cardboard and let them create abstract paintings.
Keep in mind that this activity requires adult supervision so paint won't end up all over the house. Parents should use washable paint just in case.
Rainbow Popsicles
Kids will have fun creating rainbow colored popsicles and eating them after they freeze a few hours later. Check out how to make these colorful sweet treats by visiting Sandy Toes & Popsicles.
Outdoor Movie Nights
This concept from Lou Lou Girls is not just for kids; it's also for the whole family. Reinvent your typical movie night by renting or borrowing a projector and then laying out inflatable mattresses and pool floats in your yard as you watch your favorite family-friendly flick.
Water Balloon Games
Traditional games like baseball can be turned into something new and silly through water balloons, Woman's Day wrote. Even teenagers would have fun hitting a wobbly water balloon with a plastic bat. If you want something more common, you can just have water balloon fights in your backyard.
S'mores Party
S'mores is not just for camps. Create this delicious summer snack in the comfort of your backyard by using graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate and a fire pit. Always remember to take extra precaution with the fire, though.
Paint Rocks
Painting doesn't need pricey arts and crafts kits. Buy cheap containers of paint and collect rocks from your yard. Children can then paint and decorate these rocks and make them their "pets."
