Apart from "Star Wars 8," fans are definitely looking forward to see the highly teased "Star Wars Rogue One" Darth Vader scenes in the first Lucasfilm standalone flick. New reports are suggesting that the new movie will be epic because of the supervillain's addition.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and director Gareth Edwards dished on Vader's role in "Star Wars Rogue One." Both teased that Luke Skywalker's father will be shown briefly, but his evil presence will be felt.
"He will be in the movie sparingly," Kennedy shared. "But at a key, strategic moment, he's going to loom large."
Edwards noted that the Rebels are not really familiar with Darth Vader, and this will play a crucial part in the supervillain's involvement in "Star Wars Rogue One." "Within the Rebellion, it's not commonly spoken about," he said. "Within the Empire, there is the culture of knowing of the existence of Darth Vader. There's definitely an underlying feeling that there is a power - a dark power - available to the Empire and that if you overstep your mark, you will suffer the consequences."
In a recent announcement, Ben Mendehlson has been casted as one of the villains in "Star Wars Rogue One." Although it was just recently revealed that he will be playing Director Orson Krennic, and not the rumored Grand Moff Tarkin. New reports are now suggesting that he will be under the control of none other than Darth Vader himself.
Entertainment Weekly recently revealed that Krennic is very ambitious, and won't stop until he completely destroys the Rebels with his own squad of freaky Deathtroopers. While he is terrifying in his own right, "Star Wars Rogue One" Darth Vader updates claim that he will be very careful to please his master, Darth Vader.
However, Lucasfilm chief of story development Kiri Hart claimed that Darth Vader and Krennic are "barely allies." This somehow explains the relationship Vader will have with the movie's main villain.
"Vader doesn't really play by the rules," Hart explained. "He's present in the military structure, but he's not beholden to it. He's not accountable to anybody, really, except Palpatine."
"Star Wars Rogue One" is slated for a December 14, 2016 release date.
