"Sherlock Season 4" is taking Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Martin Freeman) into dangerous waters. While co-writer Mark Gatiss who plays Mycroft Holmes promises "Sherlock Season 4" is tragic, producer and co-writer are already talking Season 5 for star Benedict Cumberbatch.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Steven Moffat teased that "Sherlock Season 4" is intertwined with previous seasons. Benedict Cumberbatch will reportedly see Holmes through consequences brought into play in "Sherlock Season 4."
While arch-enemy Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott) continues to haunt Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes, "Sherlock Season 4" will introduce new player Toby Jones as revenge-bent Culverton Smith. Cult Box reports that "Sherlock Season 4" will take Holmes and John Watson into much darker water than the 221B Baker Street occupants have been.
Certainly "Sherlock Season 4" will see Holmes and John Watson isolated from each other. In an effort to unmask events involving Culverton Smith Holmes will resort to death, which John Watson will believe.
Culverton Smith will want to bring Holmes to justice in "Sherlock Season 4" for a crime he pins on the character of Benedict Cumberbatch. Jim Moriarty, who was believed to be skipping "Sherlock Season 4" altogether, recently made his presence known.
Wales Online reports that a St Catherine Island shoot by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman for Holmes and John Watson was accessorized by a Moriarty flag. Culverton Smith may be small potatoes and Moriarty may actually be the main villain once more in "Sherlock Season 4."
Radio Times reports that according to Mark Gatiss, "Sherlock Season 4" will be underpinned by tragedy. Still The New York Times reports that Steven Moffat is already talking "Sherlock Season 5" plans for Benedict Cumberbatch to take Holmes.
Whether or not Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington) survives "Sherlock Season 4" to join Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in S5 will soon be made known. BBC is expected to drop the "Sherlock Season 4" premiere on January 2017.
