NBA Trade: Amare Stoudemire to Mavericks? [Rumors]

Amare Stoudemire might go to the Dallas Maverick's after the NBA All-Star break.

There have been rumors that the Mavericks could be looking at Stoudemire to add to their roster, and that the Power Forward/ Center star may prefer joining the Mavericks as well, if he decides to leave the New York Knicks.

According to MacMahon from ESPN.Go, Dallas would be pursuing Amare Stoudemire if he seeks a buy-out from the Knicks.

Along with Stoudemire, Dallas is also looking at Jermaine O'Neal to add to their roster. The Mavericks have gone on record saying that the team is prepared to make room for both O'Neal and Stoudemire. However, right now, Dallas is searching for a big man worthy of a 10-day contract while O'Neal continues to get in shape for the NBA in the suburbs of Southlake, Dallas, reports Oregon Live.

The Mavericks are most likely gunning for Stoudemire and O'Neal because it needs to add depth to its frontcourt, says ESPN Go. The team's upcourt has needed additions since giving up key reserves, Brandan Wright and Jae Crowder. Wright and Crowder were traded for Rajon Rondo from Boston in December.

According to Dimemag.com, Stoudemire would prefer signing with Dallas if he does opt for a buy-out from the Knicks. ESPN.Go states that Stoudemire's 5-year, $99.7 million contract with the New York Knicks is about to end.

However, Stoudemire has yet to confirm seeking a buy-out from the Knicks, as seen in his interview with Yahoo! Sports. The 13-year Veteran told the site that he will spend the All-Star break thinking about his final decision.

"It's not an easy decision to make," Stoudemire told Yahoo Sports. "Over time, we will see how things pan out. You give yourself a break during the All-Star break. You think about it with your family. ...That will give me a good solid week on how to weigh out the rest of the season."

Stoudemire adds, "All possibilities at this point are still open," Stoudemire said of a possible buyout. "The door is still open for that. But at the same time, I am with the Knicks now. I got to stay optimistic about things and what we are doing here. I can't really focus on the future because it's not here."

Besides the Dallas Mavericks, the Clippers also seem interested in Amare Stoudemire, reports Fully Clips. Due to Blake Griffin's elbow injury, he will be out for an uncertain amount of time. As a result, the Clippers are closely monitoring Stoudemire as well as Kevin Garnet from the Brooklyn Nets.Garnet might also seek a buy-out from his team this season.

Fully Clips reports, however, that the odds are in Garnet's favor when concerning the Clippers. The report says that Garnet would be a better addition to the team. Although Stoudemire has a better chance of being bought out by the New York Knicks.
