The Mac operating system just seems to get better and better as time goes by and now Apple has released a new version of it at this year's Worldwide Developer's Conference. A lot of people lined up to see what it had to offer during the event itself, but now it has been released for public beta testing. It is still the unfinished version of the operating system, hence a beta test, so it is advisable to back up your data first before trying it out.
Tech website Alphr released a detailed guide on how to install the OS on your Mac. The first thing you have to do to get your hands on Mac OS Sierra is to sign up for Apple's Beta Software Program. This would allow you to beta test the new Mac OS as well as others that may come out in the near future. After creating an account and signing in to the program, you will then have to enroll your device(s).
You will then be advised to back up your Mac, but hopefully you have already done that prior to starting with these steps. You will be given a redemption code at the bottom of the screen. Make sure that you copy this code as it might be of use in a little while. Click the button below the code that says, "Redeem Code."
You will then be taken to the Mac App Store page wherein you can download a beta version of Mac OS Sierra. The page should show the code from before and the download should start automatically. Even the installer will launch automatically once the download is completed.
Use the installation wizard and voila, you now have OS Sierra running on your Mac. If you want to learn about a number of somewhat hidden features of this new OS, iMore has released a list of ten helpful OS Sierra features.
