Information about a PlayStation game has been leaked recently. According to Gamepur.com, there is strong evidence that "Helldivers" will be released on the PlayStation Plus for free.
Arrowhead Games Studios, the developers of "Magicka" and "Gauntlet," have revealed information about the release date of "Helldivers," reports Gamepur.com. The information was revealed through a PlayStation Blog post and stated that the game will be launched on March 3, 2015 in North America.
According to Reddit, there was also a tweet about the game's release stating, "Prepare for war! Heldivers drops March 3...Battle on intergalactic threat on PS4, PS3 & Vita...."
Even though the release date was revealed, there was no mention of a price for the game. Hence, some people have come to the conclusion that Helldivers will be free on the PlayStation Plus. Push Square shares this same belief adding, "the game releases when Sony is due to refresh the Instant Game Collection software collection."
Further proof of the game's lack of price is seen through a conversation between Brynon and ArrowheadGS on Twitter, as posted on Reddit. The dialogue between the two seems to suggest the game will be free on PlayStation Plus. The conversation reads:
Brynon: "Considering that the blog post did not mention a price tag (as it usually does), and that it's coming out on the first Tuesday of the month, I'll say there is a chance that it's gonna be part of the March PS+ lineup. A welcome addition if true.
ArrowheadGS: "Well we didn't want to ruin the surprise and announce everything at once...! You need something else to look forward to ;)"
ArrowheadGS further clarifies the answer to Brynon's comment by adding an edit stating that the joke was not related to the PS+ lineup, but referred to the game's price. Later, a second edit was added, clarifying even further that "Helldivers" will be released on the PS4, PS3, and the PS Vita.
Malin Hedstrom, Arrowhead co-founder, posted on the PlayStation blog that more information about the game will be released in the following weeks, reports IGN.
"Helldivers" was actually nominated for IGN's Best of E3 2014 award last year. The game was previewed by IGN at the PlayStation Experience event last December. The game recieved the comment, "You only think you know what the word 'cooperative' means until you play Helldivers."
Even though Arrowhead Games Studios is keeping mum about everything else concerning the game, there is a bit of information about it on Game Spot. Helldivers is a twin-stick shooter game. It is set in a "satirical dystopian" future, where "Super Earth" is at war with intergalactic aliens.
The game can be played alone or in four-player cooperative mode. Friends can help each other defeat the alien threat, but also fight amongst themselves over weapons and special abilities.
In addition, it is a cross-play title, which means buying it once allows players to play it on the PS4, PS3, and the PS Vita as well.
