Robert Downey Jr. has recently confirmed that he will be appearing in "Captain America: Civil War." According to Movie Web, the movie will be coming out on May 6, 2016. It will be starring Chris Evans along with Frank Grillo, Chadwick Boseman, Daniel Bruhl, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
Mstarz reports that Downey was recently interviewed by Empire and clarified some questions concerning "Captain America 3." Empire asked him why he decided to appear in the movie, despite his initial contract of only two more Avengers films with Marvel.
He answered, "I'm crazy about Evans. I really am. I don't know why or how to explain this particular kinship we have...Honestly, in order for this whole thing to have worked, I did my part, Hemsworth knocked it out of the stadium and then it fell on Cap. That was the riskiest. It was the one that had the highest degree of difficulty in making it translate to a modern audience...
"I remember glancing through it going, 'Wow, that's a different way to go.' They said, 'If we have you, we can do this or Cap 3 has to be something else.' It's nice to feel needed."
The Iron Man star also added that he realizes he will be turning 50 by the time he is promoting the movie. However, he feels that the amount of memories and participation he can gather and give to the franchise will diminish through time.
He says, "At this point it ceases about being about announcements of contracts and deal points and Forbes and all that...Marvel is making all the right moves and they're not doing it because it's PC, they're doing it because it's exciting. So why would I be the one to go...."
When Empire asked if Iron Man will be playing the antagonist in the movie, he replies, "I wouldn't put it that way. Ultimately it's Steve's story; it doesn't say 'Iron Man 4: Civil War'...
"I think Chris [Evans] has been hungry to bring even more of an underside and some shadow to that. I remember the comics - on the surface you got the sense that Cap was baseball and apple pie, but underneath there was all this churning stuff of being a man out of time..."
Movie Web believes that new the installation of Captain America will be the "biggest movie in Marvel yet." The site adds that new members of the Avengers will appear in the movie, inluding a new Spider-man and Black Panther, who will be played by Boseman.
According to a YouTube video by IGN (see below), "Civil War" will center around a debate about the Superhero Registration Act. Stark and the Captain take different sides on the debate. Realty Today notes that Captain America dies in the comics, but the movie might not follow through with his death.
