Uh-oh! Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Louisiana duck hunting family who stars in A&E's television series "Duck Dynasty" season 10, may be in danger for a possible suspension. The reason? The infamous owner of Duck Commanders is currently facing a major backlash after his controversial anti-gay speech at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver last weekend.
"Duck Dynasty" season 10 star Phil Robertson is no stranger to criticisms and backlashes from the LGBT community. As a matter of fact, A&E had already suspended him following his 2013 profile for GQ, where he compared "homosexuality to bestiality."
"It seems like, to me, a vagina-as a man-would be more desirable than a man's anus," Robertson told the magazine in 2013. "That's just me. I'm just thinking: There's more there! She's got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical."
According to Salon, the network punished him with an indefinite suspension due to his comments. However, the LGBT community was dismayed upon learning that the 70-year-old reality TV star was back on his show just nine days after his suspension was announced.
'Duck Dynasty' Season 10 Star Phil Robertson's Controversial Western Conservative Summit Speech
During the annual GOP conference in Denver last weekend, Phil Robertson was raising eyebrows when he made a comparison between same-sex marriage and mass murder. Speaking at the three-day Western Conservative Summit, Robertson claimed the increasing death rate of innocent Americans should be blamed to the LGBT community.
In Phil Robertson's anti-gay speech, the "Duck Dynasty" season 10 star also blamed the Supreme Court decision for the legalization of same-sex marriage, not to mention the all-out war for transgender rights. He also voiced out his support to North Carolina's anti-LGBT law that prevents transgender people from using the bathroom their gender associate, Attitude learns.
Phil Robertson's anti-gay slur came just four days before "Duck Dynasty" season 10 premiere on Jul. 6 and A&E has yet to comment on Robertson's speech. The said event was also attended by Donald Trump, Sarah Palin and Carly Fiorina, Yahoo! TV notes.
'Duck Dynasty' Season 10 Star Phil Robertson Claims HIV Is God's Punishment For Gays
Aside from associating homosexuality to murders, 'Duck Dynasty' season 10 star Phil Robertson also claimed that HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases are God's punishment for the LGBT people, as per Pink News. Robertson's claims came after his interview with anti-gay Family Research Council head Tony Perkins in September 2014.
"To me, either it's the wildest coincidence ever that horrible diseases follow immoral conduct, or, it's God saying, 'There's a penalty for that kind of conduct,'" Robertson said.
