Xbox One Update 2015: March to Bring Screenshot Feature? [Rumors]

Xbox One updates have been coming in recently, but the most awaited one might come this March. The long-awaited screenshot update for the Microsoft console might be arriving sooner than players think, according to rumors.

Inquisitr reports that Phil Spencer teased Xbox One users about the long-awaited screenshot feature via Twitter. The tweet is a screenshot of a game with Spencer commenting, "Nice to finally be doing this on my Xbox One dev kit."

Since its launch in 2013, owners of the console have been able to enjoy recording games. However, screenshot functionality has been among the most requested feature, reports Latino Post.

The report adds that this feature has been available on the PlayStation 4 since its launch. Microsoft is said to be "catching up" with the release of this update.

Inquisitr suggests that the new Xbox One function will be similar to the "Record That" feature of the console. Even though the newly-hinted function may seem cool, it can be tricky. On the PS4, it requires the player to hold the "Share" button down for at least a second.

On the Xbox One, the feature will probably take a little bit of getting used to as well. Latino Post reports on the steps for the new screenshot feature:

- The first step is for players to double tap the guide bottom on the controller.

- Second, bring up the quick menu.

- Lastly, press the "Y" button to take a picture.

Arcade Sushi seems to suggest that the new feature will be called the "Snap" function. According to the site, this function will take users to a menu in order to navigate their "Snapped" content. This menu will allow users to take photos and record videos as well.

As to how the Kinect will fit in with the new feature, most sites still have not reported much. There has been no news of a voice command function, states Latino Post. However, the Inquistr does believe that the screenshot function will be relatively easy, even without voice command capability.

EuroGamer suggests that the update will arrive in the next couple of months, during one of the console's firmware updates. Meanwhile, the Inquistr believes that the update will be released sooner, around March or April at the very latest. The belief is grounded on Spencer's tweets showing him actually using the function.

While waiting for the new screenshot update, it is worth looking at Xbox's "Upload Studios" app. It was recently updated on February 17, 2015, reports VG247. The new app now has a maximum running time of 30 minutes with 15 segments allowed in any clip. There are also new transitions, title cards, templates, and splash screens. Players can now also add text overlays and voice overs to clips.
