'Resident Evil Revelations 2' PC Gameplay Review: No Co-Op Angers Gamers

Capcom is trying a different approach with "Resident Evil Revelations 2," which is to release episodes of the game every week, like a TV show, according to Game Informer. This new strategy, however, does not take away attention from the fact that the game has no co-op feature.

Eurogamer states that a lot of PC gamers are angry with Capcom because the PC version of the game does not have a local co-op feature. The site also reports that people who have pre-ordered the game are asking for refunds.

Kotaku sheds lights on why gamers are so upset at Capcom for not placing the feature. According to the site, it is normal for game features to be different on various platforms. However, Capcom did not seem to inform gamers that the local co-op feature would not be available for the PC version of "Revelations 2."

It is also worth noting that the co-op feature is helpful when switching between characters, or when playing with a friend. In the game, players are always with another character. Usually, gamers can swap between characters by simply pressing a button.

A misleading post on the order page of Steam also stated that players could use an "adaptive co-op" system for the "Resident Evil Revelations 2" PC version, reports Arstechnica. The post adds that the co-op feature could be used in "either single player mode with an AI partner or offline."

The message posted on Steam read:

"Assistive co-op play - Players will need to switch between the two characters (Claire/Moira, Barry/Natalia) to overcome the nightmares in either single player mode with an AI partner or offline co-op."

The description of the game's features proves to be misleading as another post from Capcom -- seemingly after the game's launch -- nullified the information. The second post can be seen at the bottom of Steam's order page, which according to Arstechnica, states, "The PC version does not support offline co-op play in the Campaign or Raid mode."

VG274 reports the decision to not include a co-op feature on the PC version was to maintain stability in the game. Capcom gave a statement to VG247 saying, "The decision to prioritize a single local screen was made to ensure a stable user experience across a variety of different PC settings and devices..."

Both Eurogamer and VG247, however, reveal that Raid Mode on the PC version will receive support for online co-op through a patch at a later date. Unfortunately, Capcom has stated on both sites that the "main campaign on PC will only be available to play single local screen."
