Following the grand finale of "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 22 last December and not to mention the show's cancellation, the hit CW network modelling competition is about to return on television for its Cycle 23 on a new channel, VH1. Originally hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks, the upcoming revamped "ANTM" season will feature a new host.
Before "America's Next Top Model" went on hiatus last year, The CW network had already cancelled the show, which has been running since 2004. Fortunately, VH1 announced earlier this year that the reality show will return for a new season on the network.
"I will continue as executive producer but must turn my attention to new business endeavors, so I want to find a new host," Tyra Banks stated, as per TV Guide. "I'm pumped to identify that person and bring back the show. Top Model fans, you demanded that the show come back, and VH1 answered the call. Get ready for a fierce-a-field rebirth!"
'America's Next Top Model' Host Tyra Banks' 'Prima Donna' Attitude
Before delving deeper into the details of "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 23, a new report has recently claimed that Tyra Banks reportedly doesn't want to "share" the spotlight when she's in front of the camera. So, does this mean Banks has a "prima donna" attitude?
According to Hall of Fame magazine, "ANTM" Cycle 17 winner Lisa D'Amato shared some bits and pieces about what's happening in the show behind the camera. In fact, D'Amato claimed that Tyra Banks has a penchant of keeping others below her while she stays on top.
'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 23 Host
As "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 23 is set to premiere on a new channel, the modelling competition reality show will also have a new host. As revealed by an insider to Hollywood Life, 25-year-old British singer and actress Rita Ora has been offered to be the host of the show with A$AP Rocky as a cohost.
Tyra Banks Vs. Rita Ora As 'America's Next Top Model' Host
Speaking of a new host, Tyra Banks reportedly loved the idea that Ora will replace her as the new "America's Next Top Model" host. As a matter of fact, Banks wasn't hating Ora, instead, she gave her the approval to host the show, UPI notes.
"Rita and I spoke today. I love her," Banks told Entertainment Tonight last week. "She was like, 'Tyra, I don't want to fill your shoes, I want to create my own shoes.' So I was like, 'I got you boo.' She was like, 'I just want some advice and some help.' So I'm going to have a session with her in person. I'm going to give her the ins and the outs, but make it you. Do you. She's gotta make it her's."
'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 23 Air Date
Even though Tyra Banks will no longer host "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 23 on VH1, she will continue as the show's executive producer with Ken Mok, VH1 News reports. Banks will also star in the upcoming entrepreneur competition series on NBC titled, "Funded." As for "ANTM" Cycle 23 premiere date, no official air date has been set yet.
