Gaming fans of "Darksiders" have been on alert over the weekend over a potential remaster release of the very first edition for the PS4 and Xbox One. A first-ever Wii U release of "Darksiders" could also finally be happening after a long, long wait.
But what does these releases signal? Is Nordic Games finally on its way to developing the much-awaited "Darksiders 3"?
'Darksiders' Release For The Wii U, Remasters For PS4 & Xbox One
Gamers at the NeoGaf community spotted links to a listing of the very first "Darksiders" on Gamefly. The site is a video game rental subscription, where members can pay $22.95 or $15.95 for a single game for one month. Only members can view what has been listed on the site.
The said listings cover all current console platforms - the Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One. The first "Darksiders" was never released under Wii U since the game came out in 2010, while Wii U launched in 2012. It did receive a release of "Darksiders 2" that same year.
Wii U Daily reports that fans have long been petitioning Nordic Games to release a remastered edition of the very first "Darksiders" for existing and current console machines. The company has vaguely given hints about this, but the listing could be solid proof the original version is hitting stores again very soon.
'Darksiders 3' Release Up Next?
With the remaster releases coming soon, speculations have been rife about Nordic Games finally delivering "Darksiders 3." It's been over four years since a follow up has been made and the hold-up was partly caused by the original developing company closing due to bankruptcy, as Parent Herald reported.
But now that the dust has settled and Nordic Games has the rights and license, fans expect that the development of "Darksiders 3" can finally move forward. At best, speculations are that gamers will see "Darksiders 3" in retail stores by late 2017 or 2018, according to NeoGaf members.
