High fat Mediterranean menu can lower your weight, Healthday reports. This is based from a study lead by Dr. Hanna Bloomfield, a professor at the University of Minnesota and associate chief of staff for research at the Minneapolis VA.
Mediterranean cuisines are known for the generous use of olive oil, spices, vinegar, herbs, and wine. Experts usually eliminate olive oil while still maintaining the taste of the other flavors. Olive oil is taken out of the list because it has the same amount of calories (9 calories per gram) that is of similar low EMI value, which can be a challenge in losing weight. Instead of olive oil, what can take its place are basil, oregano, and garlic. These are great for Mediterranean sauces for pastas and vegetables.
Dr. Terry Shintani, from Harvard and currently a Living Treasure of Hawaii, says that diseases can be reversed at least within ten days only if the person has the discipline to eat the right foods. He even argues that one can eat as much as he wants as long as the right menu is prepared. Vegetables and fruits should not be boring and no taste at all. Everything can be yummy and enjoyable to eat, as what Shintani's cookbooks present. The Mediterranean diet is a great part of the "Shintani Diets" like the "Eat More Weigh Less" Diet and the "Peace Diet".
The benefits of Mediterranean Diet are innumerable. Dr. Josh Axe, a doctor of chiropractic and clinical nutritionist, mentioned some of these as:
1. Reduce Disease-causing inflammation
2. High Fiber
3. Losing Weight Fast, Without Going Hungry
4. Fight Free Radical Damage
5. Reverse Some Diseases Including Cancer
The main bulk of a Mediterranean Diet is to eat more chicken and fish and trim down red meat, then add up nuts instead of potato chips. For some it will be very hard when you kick off the diet but the result will be fulfilling after at least six months.
