George RR Martin Misses Comic-Con, 'The Winds of Winter' Author Explains
For those who expected to hear updates about "The Winds of Winter" in the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con, we understand that you were disappointed. George RR Martin announced that he skipped the said event because he has a big Wild Cards event at the Jean Cocteau Cinema last weekend.
However, the "The Winds of Winter" scribe was aware that someone stole his spotlight in the Comic-Con, that's why he made it clear that he was not there. "I am not there. Accept no substitutes!" he wrote on his blog.
As for the man whom many thought as George RR Martin in the said event, the "The Winds of Winter" author stressed that it was someone else who happened to look like him. "It's some other old fat guy in a Greek sailor's cap and pair of suspenders, maybe. Who may or may not be consciously cosplaying as me," he explained.
"And just to be clear, no, I do not disapprove of fans cosplaying as me. I do find it surreal, but hey, what they hell, have fun... so long as they don't actually pretend to be me," George RR Martin explained.
