"Narcos" Season 2 is just around the corner, and while everyone already knows much of what to expect, some still wonder what is going to happen to the series after Pablo Escobar's death. Meanwhile, Netflix is launching a "Narcos" mobile game, which will allow you to run your own drug cartel.
Wagner Moura To Exit After 'Narcos' Season 2
"Narcos" lead star, Wagner Moura, who plays as the cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar, said that this second season is definitely the last one for him, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Moura confirmed the death of his character and dished some things to expect. According to Wagner, "Narcos" Season 2 will be character-driven and will feature the last moments of the Columbian drug lord as he starts to lose everything he has, particularly his safety. "This is the season where we're going to start to see the fall of this guy," the actor said. "We're going to see Pablo Escobar very vulnerable."
While "Narcos" has not formally been renewed for Season 3, there's a huge possibility that it will happen. The producers said that the show is not just about Pablo Escobar after all, and there are many other characters and stories to explore.
"We plan on stopping when cocaine stops. I think there's a reason why we call this show Narcos and not Pablo Escobar. [It's] very much about the trade," executive producer Eric Newman said. "There are other drug dealers and there are alliances formed against Pablo so there are a multitude of stories we could tackle."
"Narcos: Cartel Wars" Mobile Game Comes In September
Meanwhile, fans of "Narcos" has another thing to look forward to. Gaumont Television, the company that produces "Narcos" for Netflix, has partnered with game publisher FTX Games to develop the official mobile game for the show. According to a report from Variety, "Narcos: Cartel Wars" will have players act as up-and-coming cartel lieutenant. Characters from the show will provide them guidance as they build their networks, make alliances, and go to war to establish their cartels, earn money, and win territories.
"'Narcos' is about a lot more than violence, money and power," Aaron Berndtson, FTX Games' head of business development, explained. "We really wanted to explore the moral ambiguity from the show, where right and wrong are subjective. We're very excited to put these choices into the player's hands."
"Narcos" Season 2 is slated for release on Sept. 2 on Netflix.
