With "The Flash" Season 3 becoming the centerpiece of The CW's DC television universe, the show's episode have become prime real estate for filmmakers looking for short stints on the small screen. Now the highest rated show on The CW, the superhero series' two seasons have made it a major fixture of geekdom, drawing thousands of fans into fan conventions like the San Diego Comic Convention.
"The Flash" Season 3 may welcome a major Marvel star into its directors' stable soon if rumors are true that Joss Whedon is interested in directing an episode, Comic Book Movie reported. Whedon's addition to the show would prove an interesting mix as he helmed the first two entries in the Avengers film series.
"The Flash" Season 3 star Grant Gustin has revealed that he thinks the Avengers director would do well on "The Flash" after he was asked who he would like to see in the director's chair soon in the show's Comic-Con panel. "I met Joss Whedon last night. Yeah, that'd be really cool. He was a really nice guy and he loves the show. He's seen every episode of the show." That does not mean that Whedon has already signed a contract though as it is only Gustin's wish, Screen Rant reported.
In other "The Flash" Season 3 news, Kevin Smith has been booked to direct another installment after the episode he directed last season, The Runaway Director, became one of the season's highest rated. Smith was praised because it was clear that Smith was a fan of the source material.
