Russell Westbrook is not indulging on his privileges and luxuries. He acquired 41 points at the Western conference match towards the winning end at the 2015 NBA's All-Star Game, as reported in USA Today. February 2015's NBA All-Star Most Valuable Player now is all for charity giving to share the blessings he's had in life.
After having been named as an NBA MVP, Westbrook received a brand new car. Instead of driving in style in his new Kia, E! Online reported that Oklahoma City Thunder's star player gave his new vehicle away to a lucky female fan.
Westbrook felt the need to be generous to those in need. The gift-receiving fan, Kerstin Gonzalez, was a 19-year old single mom who was struggling to make ends meet. The teener had her first child when she was 14. Gonzalez had her priorities full as she fought her way to finish high school. She has been in one job as she applied for college studies to major in forensic science, as well. To make matters worse, her vehicle has already started running down that it has taken a while to get it started on the road for the day.
Westbrook's gift came at the best time for the senior high school student. Come Monday morning, Gonzalez never thought that her session at the Sunbeam Family Services on Monday morning would be any different. Well, not until Westbrook appeared in front of her to hand over the key set for her new Kia!
Gonzalez shared her thoughts to NBA Team about the surprise she got from Westbrook saying, "Are they playing a prank on me or something?"
"When he showed me the keys, I was like 'this is real.' That's when I started to cry because it's been such a hard time."
Westbrook was happy to be able to help a person in need, saying, "There were definitely tears of joy and I could tell some tears of hard work and all the different things she's been through in her life."
"Today was a stepping stone in showing her that everything is going to be all right."
The NBA star player expressed his admiration towards Gonzalez for strongly standing on her feet to support her family. Westbrook said, "It's just all the hard work that she's done to be able to keep her family together. When you see somebody working hard towards a goal and finding ways every day to keep everything afloat for her two boys and her family, you can't do anything but help them out."
Weestbrook got engaged to long-term girlfriend, Nina Earl, late last year, as reported in The Big Lead.
As posted on Espn.go.com, Westbrook's stats for the past year in 2014-2015 regular season match were 62 for GP, 62 for GS with a total of 34.3, mInimum average scores.
