Hillary Clinton: Where Will Motherhood Politics Bring The Prsidential Candidate?

Hillary Clinton has a step forward whenever motherhood or women's rights is taken into account. She is said to have provided a better voice for women compared to the other presidentiables. However for some, such motherhood politics is possible to make harm for women and feminism instead of bringing positivity towards these issues.

President Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama are very explicit with their expression of support to Hillary Clinton, whom they believe is a great icon when it comes to motherhood. As reported by Quartz magazine, Michelle Obama spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia about Clinton by saying: "See, I trust Hillary to lead this country because I've seen her lifelong devotion to our nation's children-not just her own daughter, who she has raised to perfection, but every child who needs a champion," she said. The first lady was implying that the female presidentiable is very much honorable, reliable, devoted, and caring- as manifested in her motherhood. For Mrs. Obama, such great character can make a great president.

For those who are skeptic about Hillary Clinton's intentions, they feel that the political tactic reflects insincerity. Nonetheless, few can doubt about her actual experience and political inspiration over the years as a mom and as a grandmother.

The motherhood politics is non-partisan that makes it less threatening to traditional social norms than is feminism. Moms are hard to be criticized and in politics, they are usually hard to pin down.

Some of the priorities set on Clinton's platform are women's rights, maternal health, parenthood planning, and more job opportunities for women. Other candidates can also prioritize these issues even though they are not mothers or grandmothers. Anyone can fight for women if they want to. However, what makes Clinton have more authority on such issues is her being a woman, mother, and grandmother. Her experience and deeper sense to care for children (America) validates the reality that: 'she can possibly do it'.
