Mischa Barton 2015 Photos & News: Actress Sues Mother for Exploiting Her Fame

Mischa Barton have found fame in Hollywood. But, at the end of the day, she's not thanking her mother manager for having a successful career! The O.C. star has filed a lawsuit against mom, Nuala Barton, for stealing the money the actress made, according to Us Weekly.

Mischa's attorney, Alex Weingarten, released an official statement exclusively to US Magazine on Tuesday, saying, "This action arises from the tragic tale of a greedy stage mother posing as a talent manager who, instead of acting in the best interest of her daughter/client, schemed to defraud her unsuspecting victim.

"From the outset, Nuala positioned herself to siphon her daughter's hard-earned money by purportedly acting as her talent manager - a role for which Nuala had absolutely no experience or training."

The New York Daily News reported that Nuala lied to her client/daughter about the amount of earnings the latter would make for the film, "Hoarder." Nuala allegedly took the lacking amount of money she owed to her daughter after lying to her about her compensation. On top of it, the mom-manager was believed to have earned a 10% managerial compensation from her daughter for that project, as well.

Nuala and Paul, Mischa's father, allegedly have not held other jobs in over 10 years. Mischa's parents earned a living by working for their daughter. Paul, though, did not work as Mischa's manager. Hence, she did not file a legal case against him.

Mischa described Nuala as "a greedy stage mother posing as a talent manager" according to TMZ. Additionally, the actress claimed her mother opened a handbag and wardrobe boutique in London using Mischa's name. But, Nuala has not given any profit at all to her daughter.

As reported in USA Today, Mischa also claimed that Nuala:

-Sneakily acquired allowance from Mischa from time to time behind her back.
-Co-named Mischa's $7.8 million home in Beverly Hills with hers in 2006. Afterwards, Nuala banned her daughter from the house's premises.

At 17 years old, Mischa gained fame by starring in the teen drama, "The O.C." However, producers axed Mischa's character in the series only by the third season, as indicated in a USA Today article. Since then, the actress has had challenges in rebuilding her acting career. Mischa also starred in "The Notting Hill" and "The Sixth Sense." She started her acting career as a child actress at the age of 8.
