‘Call of Duty’ Developer Talks ‘Zombie’ Struggles Ahead of ‘Infinite Warfare’ Release

"Call of Duty" developer Jason Blundell recently spoke about what it was like during the first development of "Zombies" mode, and how it has become one of the most anticipated features in any "Call of Duty" release. "Zombies" mode in the "Call of Duty" franchise has become a fan favourite over the years, followers of the series have been looking forward to since it's first appearance in "Call of Duty: World at War" in 2008.

Senior Executive Producer and Game Director of the "Call of Duty" series Jason Blundell sat down with Gamespot and talked about the development of the "Zombies" mode that has had fans all over the world going mad. "When it comes to Zombies, and if you look at the birth of it, it was done in the lunchtimes of World at War." Blundell said. With scheduling and budgetary concerns, the developers of the game were reluctant in including the easter egg mode in the fifth "Call of Duty" game. "There was no speaking in the first one because there was no budget. There were no assets. That's why there's no VO. People always forget that." he added.

Despite the non-existent promotion of "Zombies" in it's "Call of Duty" debut, it immediately gained attention after fans caught wind of the unlockable feature. "It [expanded] because of the fans," says Blundell. "It sounds corny, but it's the reality of what happened. "Blundell's interview with Gamespot was published a day before "Call of Duty: Infinite Wars" developer Brian Horton of Infinity Ward spoke with Gamingbolt about the latest "Call of Duty" release.

According to Horton, the latest release in the "Call of Duty" franchise will be about a band of brothers. "Our focus was to try and tell a character-driven story of a band of brothers; so Lt. Reyes is surrounded by a cast of fully fleshed out squad mates of which make up the fighting force that has to defeat this settlement defense front,"

"Call of Duty: Infinite Wars" will continue the tradition of having a "Zombies" mode. It will be released on November 4, 2016, on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
