After setting a record of 2.7 million sales in it's launching week on May 10, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" has become the best selling PlayStation 4 game as of August 2016, beating out other major releases for the PlayStation 4 and other consoles including "Call of Duty: Black Ops III", "FIFA 16", "Tom Clancy's 'The Division'", and "Overwatch".
From it's latest digital sales report from Superdata in May, the latest "Uncharted" game has grossed over $56 million from downloads and micro-transactions, according to VentureBeat. Despite being exclusively for the PlayStation 4, it still managed to pull in the most revenue overall for that month.
According to PlayStation.com, the release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was delayed by two weeks to allow extra manufacturing time, in order for them to meet the worldwide demand for the highly anticipated final chapter of the "Uncharted" franchise. This turned out to be the right call for Sony due to the immense popularity of the series.
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" has been met with worldwide critical acclaim, being praised by critics and fans alike. "In amongst its frantic combat, slick parkour, and outrageous action choreography, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End achieves something wonderful: maturity.", writes Lucy O' Brien of IGN, who gave the game a score of 9/10.
Critics also praise Naughty Dog, the development team of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" for their masterful work. "Naughty Dog's victory lap is a celebration of its past, present and future, with clever pacing and thrilling set-pieces surpassing expectations in its most exhilarating Uncharted to date." said PlayStation Magazine Official UK, adding "No PS4 should be without this." giving them a score of 100 on Metacritic.
Naughty Dog is no stranger to video game success, being the masterminds behind another critically acclaimed title "The Last of Us" and PlayStation classic "Crash Bandicoot".
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is available worldwide, exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
