"Jason Bourne" Box Office success could be an indicator that movie audiences just really love Matt Damon as the fifth movie in the franchise blasted to the top of cinema gross charts after the box office weekend closed. The opening of "Jason Bourne" is the second highest in the action film series, behind top grosser "The Bourne Ultimatum," which debuted to $69.2 million domestically in 2007 on its way to a $442.8 million worldwide.
With a successful opening weekend stateside, "Jason Bourne" Box Office is estimated at $60 million, Box Office Mojo reported. With the first weekend number of "Jason Bourne" much higher than the previous installment led by Jeremy Renner, it is one of the few franchise sequels released in 2016 that was able to buck the downward trend of grosses, avoiding becoming another "Alice Through The Looking Glass" or an "Allegiant."
"Jason Bourne" Box Office numbers means that the action flick earned an average of $14,093 spread out over 4,026 screens in the United States and Canada, Entertainment Weekly reported. The movie also earned $50.1 million in international markets, raising its worldwide gross to an impressive $110 million. So will Damon make a new sequel? It is hard to say as he is booked for the next few years to topline other movies. But Universal did promise we will soon get a sequel to the Jeremy Renner-lead "Bourne" movies.
Apart from "Jason Bourne" Box Office success, "Bad Moms," with an ensemble cast that includes Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate, also debuts with $23.4 million for a third place finish. Just above it is "Star Trek Beyond," which declines a massive 60 percent to 24 million.
