The new NBC drama called "This Is Us" is reportedly about characters having the same birthdays but the producer of the show believes that viewers will want to watch it because of the scenes showing the behind of one of the lead stars, Milo Ventimiglia. He will be starring alongside Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Sterling K. Brown, Ron Cephas Jones, and Susan Kelechi Watson.
"This Is Us" creator Dan Fogelman said that he is not sure about what exactly made the fans want to watch the show but it might have something to do with the teaser trailer showing the derriere of the actor, Mashable reported. Viewers have been buzzing over the show ahead of its September debut and Fogelman joked they are showing the ass of Ventimiglia in every episode. He added, "He doesn't even have lines in the second one."
Fogelman is best known for penning and producing the hit flick "Crazy, Stupid, Love." He talked about
"This Is Us" during the Television Critics Association presentation on Tuesday. Ventimiglia will be playing the role of Jack, the husband of Moore's role, Rebecca. In the teaser trailer, it was seen that Jack and Rebecca were getting ready for some sexy time but her water broke. Towards the end of the trailer, they were supposed to have triplets but one of the babies died.
Ventimiglia shared about his character and that of Moore's, "Mandy and I have had a lot of conversations about Rebecca and Jack as a couple. I've said to her, 'from action and cut you're my wife.' [Hopefully we'll] make something beautiful and entertaining, something that people can connect to."
The other stories for "This Is Us" is about an obese character, a black man who found his father 36 years after, and an actor trying to find himself. Fogelman said that "This Is Us" has four interconnected storylines.
Fogelman also feels that "This Is Us" is the dramedy version of "Lost" as viewers will have to understand how everyone is connected.
"This Is Us" is set to premiere on September 20 on NBC at 10 P.M.
