MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees to release Alex Rodriguez; A Trade or Waive?

Rumors spreading that the New York Yankees plans to trade Alex Rodriguez before the trade deadline by the end of August. Though the Non-Waivering Trade has already passed, MLB clubs can still pursue a trade using a Special Waiver.

The three times AL MLB Most Valuable Player Alex Rodriguez could be traded due to his performance. Rodriguez' is not enjoying his current .206 batting average and is struggling with just 9 home runs, a career low for Rodriguez, who was known to be a killer from the batting plate.

According to Sports Illustrated, instead of trading Rodriguez it would be a great move to release Mark Teixeira, who is also struggling from the batting plate. In this case, though Yankees still will owe Mark Teixeira $20 million until next season, the Yankees would have an opportunity to open a new spot. The young Gary Sanchez would be a good fit to replace Teixeira, who was recently promoted last Wednesday.

Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman appeared on ESPN's Baseball Podcast he claims that they are currently standing on a tight spot. He said as far as he can see, Rodriguez is trying and doing everything that could possibly help the team, it's just the things are not working the way they expect and plan. By the next day, MLB Trade Rumors reported that the trade rumors about Alex Rodriguez possible would be zero chance. With this, it turns out that the Yankees is not planning to trade Rodriguez at all since they see all the efforts that Rodriguez' is doing to and still extending to do his best for the club.

Alex Rodriguez is one the greatest baseball player that could be a future Fall of Famer, but now as he enters the age of 40's, Rodriguez is starting to experience a deterioration in his performance. Stay tune for more updates with regards to this rumor until the trade deadline come this end of August.
