Even just a day into the start of the Games, we already have a Rio Olympics 2016 record but it does not concern any of the sports. The organizers of the Rio Olympics 2016 have reportedly prepared 450,000 condoms for the use of the 10,500 competitors residing in the athletes' village, blowing the records of previous iterations of the Games.
The count in Rio Olympics 2016 is much bigger than the initial order for male contraceptives in the London Olympics in 2012 when 150,000 condoms were delivered to the athletes' village, New York Post reported. In 2004, 130,000 were brought for the Athens Olympics while 90,000 were given in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Data on condom prep by Olympics organizers have been compiled since the 1988 Olympics when a ban on outdoor sex has been instituted after used contraceptives have been found on the roofs of the village houses.
This comes after one of the biggest stars of the Rio Olympics 2016 revealed that it is perfectly normal for athletes to engage in sex while in the host city especially after their own events, according to the Daily Mail UK. Tom Daley, who is representing Team Great Britain in the 10-meter platform diving and 10-meter platform synchronized diving events, did not hold back in talking about the athletes' other "activities." "They are in peak physical condition and have been locked away training for months - talk about a need for release," Daley said. "Let's just say the sex is ... Olympic. And who wouldn't want a gold for that particular sport?"
