The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a voluntary recall of toys designed for infants, citing choking risks associated with the product.
More than 45, 000 units of Sassy and Carter's branded "Hug N' Tug" baby toys have been recalled in the U.S, on Thursday after authorities found beads inside the toys easily released while a child played with the toy.
The authorities have received 12 complaints, related to beads coming out of Sassy branded toys that come in puppy and monkey models. However, the Commission hasn't received any complaint regarding Carter's -branded Hug N' Tug Monkey models.
All the recalled toys, with arms and legs have been designed to engage infants while riding in a car or stroller.
It's pretty easy to identify the recalled toys as the puppy or monkey faced toys come in multi-colored fabrics, with rattle beads inside a clear plastic body at the centre.
Recalled toys, Sassy Hug N' Tug Puppy (model #80213), Sassy Hug N' Tug Monkey (model #80214) and Carter's-branded Hug N' Tug Monkey( models #61083 and #61540) were available at retail stores across the nation, including Toys R Us and Target and online stores of Amazon and Carters, between July and October 2012.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urged consumers to stop using the recalled toys and approach the company for a free replacement toy.
Consumers can contact Sassy at (800) 323-6336, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, during week days. Any complaints related to the recalled product can be filed directly on the commission's official website SaferProducts.gov.
