Sarah Jessica Parker is heading for a divorce and the guy she's having an affair with has been revealed. However, this is not the kind of relationship breakdown that fans of the actress should be concerned for. It's actually one that viewers should watch out for as "Divorce," the TV show, begins its run on HBO this October.
New Zealand Herald confirms that local actor Jermaine Clement ("Flight of the Conchords") has been picked as the guy involved with Sarah Jessica Parker's "Divorce" on HBO. Clement will play a recurring character in the new comedy-drama series that charts a marriage coming to an end. His character is the long-time lover of Sarah Jessica Parker's Frances.
Clement wasn't originally cast as the lover, as a young man played the part in the still-unaired pilot episode. But "Divorce's" production, where Sarah Jessica Parker is also one of its executive producers, changed the young lover's casting for an older actor. "I think it would be much more interesting if she was having an affair with a real man," said Sarah Jessica Parker in the report.
The multi-awarded actress worked on the development of "Divorce" for four years before finally sealing the deal with HBO. The show is set to begin the first season on the cable network on Oct. 9, per ABC News.
Sarah Jessica Parker's "Divorce" is inspired from experiences the actress has learned from friends and close associates. Being married for 19 years to actor Matthew Broderick, SJP had to look into other people's marriage to draw ideas for her new show, and she admits she can't relate to Frances' life as it is quite different from her real life.
Frances is also a far cry from Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker's famous alter ego from "Sex and The City," her former show with HBO that was quite popular in the early 2000s. Suffice to say, "Divorce" is not a follow up or a spinoff to the previous series, per USA Today.
"Divorce" also features Thomas Haden Church as Frances' husband, Robert. Rounding up the cast are Molly Shannon, Talia Balsam and Charlie Kilgore. It will have 10 episodes for the first season. Check out the teaser to Sarah Jessica Parker's "Divorce" in the video below.
