How Zika Funding And Planned Parenthood Face Major Adjustments

As Zika outbreak in Florida raises concern to all especially for those who want to save pregnant women from being affected by the virus while other citizens get affected by the funding cuts on planned parenthood.

Florida's state funding cut to Planned Parenthood health centers was temporarily stopped as per court order on June 30. Some experts worry as there is a possibility for the low-income women who depend on Planned Parenthood for health care would face greater risk for zika virus.

There are at least 55 pregnant women who have been contracted the Zika virus in Florida. There was one case of a baby born with Zika-related microcephaly. From these 55, 15 of them are infected in the local outbreak while some other cases of Zika in Florida are related to travel out of Florida.

As the fight become so in depth between Republicans and Democratics, Zika funding is said to become more strained in every state as expected as other fundings sre being adjusted and in doing so, there will a ot of compromises in terms of allocation that id going to take place.

Other laboratories and researchers on the other hand are doing a great job in discovering effective vaccines that will perfectly work to fight Zika virus. The recent one was reportedly proven to work on monkeys and two individuals got to be in the experiment to see how the vaccination would work. So far, the vaccine gives promise and will later put more people to be spared from the Zika virus. Upon approval of the health departments, pregnant women will be the priority.

As the funding for Zika and adjustments of funding on other programs like that for the planned parenthood are getting major changes, everyone should take their part to keep the Zika virus from spreading. Some of the things to consider in helping is to avoid from traveling to Zika-affected locations and keep yourself away from unprotected sex. Know if your spouse has it and if he or she has travelled to a place where there is a Zika outbreak, make sure that you both see the doctor immediately.
