After the announcement of the reintegration of "ARK: Survival Evolved" spinoff game "ARK: Survival of the Fittest" into its original game, Studio Wildcard has revealed some important details about the game's PS4 release. In addition, the game developer also announced that a major update will be launched on Xbox One and PC platforms that will bring the VR Dino hunting back on Oculus Rift again.
Prior to the full release of "ARK: Survival Evolved" in the holiday season, Studio Wildcard recently shared an update about the game's release on PS4. According to Daily Express, the PS4 release of the game depends on the decision of Sony, who reportedly wanted the game to be completed before it will be released on their console in spite of the fact that a PS4 version has been "running internally."
"As for the PS4 Release of ARK: Survival Evolved, it is currently up to Sony," the Studio Wildcard team wrote on the ARK Community Forums. "We've been informed that we can't release the game on this platform until it has been finished. We would like nothing more than to make ARK available on PS4 as soon as possible, as we already have an awesome PS4 version of the game running internally. If you would like to see it sooner, please let Sony know, as it's unfortunately not our decision."
Studio Wildcard also shared an update regarding "ARK: Survival Evolved" free spinoff game, "ARK: Survival of the Fittest." In fact, the developer revealed that the "ARK" team is currently concentrating on the PC version and its mod support, not to mention their plan to "map out a longer-term roadmap" for the "SotF" project.
Meanwhile, "ARK: Survival Evolved" has been one of the most successful titles of Studio Wildcard today. Even though the game is still unfinished, GameSpot revealed that the game has already sold 5.5 million copies across both Xbox One and PC platforms since it was launched in June last year.
In other "ARK: Survival Evolved"-related news, Studio Wildcard revealed that the game will be supporting back the VR Dino hunting on Oculus Rift. Another Daily Express report noted that the news came after reports of the arrival of a massive update on Xbox One and PC consoles.
"ARK: Survival Evolved" VR-friendly support update was confirmed by developer Jeremy Drake Stieglitz. However, gamers should first have the "ARK" v245.94 update on Windows and enable the "Unknown Applications" setting in the Oculus Control Panel.
