There is no doubt that Klay Thompson is a valuable player to Golden State Warriors. The shooting guard has been a strong support to Stephen Curry when they won their NBA title. Together with Draymond Green and Curry, Thompson is GSW's power trio that led the super team to victory.
However, did things change when Kevin Durant join GSW? Many believe that GSW has now high chances in winning their next NBA title with Durant. While OKC Thunder fans were disappointed with Kevin Durant's move, many were concerned about the potential disadvantage of having the superstar in the team.
Parent Herald previously reported that with Kevin Durant joining GSW, Klay Thompson will be affected the most. Thompson has satisfied himself to be Stephen Curry's faithful backup in the past NBA seasons but with another NBA star joining the warriors, he needs to level up or else he will be behind.
In an earlier interview, Klay Thompson disclosed that he is not changing his gameplay for Kevin Durant. Clutch Point reported that Durant agrees that Thompson should maintain his strategy because that's what makes him one of the best shooting guards in the NBA league today.
But will Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant be running mates for long? At the time both are playing for team USA in the Rio Olympics 2016 but they might not play for GSW together for long.
According to Centrio Times, GSW is trading Klay Thompson to get Denver Nuggets' Danilo Gallinari and Will Barton. Nuggets have shown interest in acquiring Thompson, GSW has already a powerhouse starting lineup but they need to strengthen their bench. Gallinari and Barton are a great addition.
The report notes that GSW will be skeptical in letting go of Klay Thompson but Kevin Durant has lessened his value in the team. In fact, GSW willfully parted their ways with the former Warriors Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli and Harrison Barnes just to have Durant on their roster.
