‘God Of War’ 4 Release Date, News Update: ‘GoW’ 4 Teaches Kratos To Be Human Again? New Sony Game Not In Gamescom?

"God Of War" 4, as exciting as the gameplay by Sony Santa Monica promises to be, is according to Cory Barlog a journey to teaching protagonist Kratos how to be human again. Understandably the new Kratos and new "GoW" have fans excited, but no "God Of War" 4 details will surface from Sony in the 2016 Gamescon.

In a conversation with Digital Trends Cory Barlog, who is creative director of "God Of War" 4 and was creative director of the highly lauded "God Of War" 2, revealed the motive of the new Sony game. "God Of War" 4 is a personal journey for Kratos and his yet unnamed son of learning from each other.

From Kratos, the son learns what he must about being a god in the Norse mythology setting of the new "God Of War" 4. For Kratos, the son teaches the God Of War how to be human again.

Although Kratos is noticeably less given to temper tantrums, according to Cory Barlog the God Of War will be just as pissed off in "GoW" 4 but with far more awareness and control. Cory Barlog further explains that "God Of War" 4 will feature what Kratos learned from his time away from people on the matter of controlling his anger.

In terms of gameplay, Cory Barlog explains how "God Of War" 4 will be big on being re-playable. Game Rant cites an exchange between Cory Barlog and a "GoW" fan about what players would get from the less than 100 hours of gameplay in "God Of War" 4. Inside "God Of War" 4 are special tasks for players to unlock unique gears and weapons. These items can be used when the players replay "God Of War" 4.

This plays into what Cory Barlog told Digital Trends about how "God Of War" 4 is an attempt by the creative director to relive his experience with "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night." After completing "Castlevania" Cory Barlog was struck by the epiphany that he had much more to play in the said game.

For Cory Barlog, this experience had been something he had been working to recreate in his own games, including "God Of War" 4. "I think my entire career, I have been like, 'I want that kind of epiphany,'" Cory Barlog said.

Game Rant reports that Sony will not be joining the 2016 Gamescom, hence no "God Of War" 4 news for fans to expect from the event. Projections point to Sony Santa Monica releasing "God Of War" 4 in the holiday season of 2017.
