Rio Olympics 2016: Katie Ledecky's Former Athletic Director Reveals Swim Champ's Promising Start

A former athletic director of Olympic athlete Katie Ledecky is giving his testimony about the swimmer's promising start. He reveals that one of the reasons why he believes Ledecky is such as success is because, aside from being a great sportswoman, she has a wonderful attitude as a person.

Jason McGhee wrote, via Positive Coach, that when he met Katie Ledecky as a student at the Stone Ridge School, the young girl showed humility even as she already has the markings of becoming a sports superstar. "This young woman, arguably the best athlete in the world, was so humble that she felt she needed to introduce herself through an apology," said McGhee.

When Katie Ledecky graduated from the school, she still made it a point to visit the campus quite often, McGhee further revealed. The swimmer has been helping and inspiring other Stone Ridge School students to aspire for greatness just like her.

Team USA swim champ Katie Ledecky has dominated the women's swimming competition at the Rio Olympics 2016. The 19-year-old Olympian has recently set a world record for winning the gold in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle competition, which last happened in the 1968 Olympics, according to CBC.

NBC Olympics reports that Katie Ledecky will soon head to college in Stanford, where she plans to compete during the NCAA season. She's also expected to train for the next Olympics, but she says she will "take things one at a time."

Meanwhile, McGhee also said that Katie Ledecky is a testament to what the school's coaches and teachers impart among their students. "She lives out the five Goals of Sacred Heart," McGhee proudly wrote. Hence, anyone who wants to become the next Katie Ledecky must also aspire to become good not only in their chosen sport, but also in academics as well as life in general.
