Michael Phelps No Longer To Return In The Olympics 2020? Marriage Plans On The Way

Five-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps once again told the world that his presence would be nowhere to found in the next Olympics. The swimmer said in a press conference on August 12 that this could be his last participation in the prestigious event.

According to ESPN, although this is not the first time that Michael Phelps have called the press regarding his retirement, there is a huge chance that he is really going for it this time. Meanwhile, U.S. team swimmer Ryan Lochte is skeptical about Phelps' announcement. He even told everyone that back in 2012, he was the only one who didn't believe Phelps when he made the same announcement about him not joining the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Lochte thinks that Phelps won't just give up on it like that and at least not this early because he loves the adrenaline rush and the challenges that swimming brings him. Plus, the fact that Michael Phelps is really good in his sport contributes to Lochte's theory that Phelps is still coming back to join the Olympics in 2020.

Meanwhile, Yahoo News reported that Lochte might just be right again in his theory. In fact, Phelps even admitted that there is still a chance that he might return. But there is also a possibility that he wouldn't because he is about to get married to his fiancé, Nicole Johnson.

Phelps said that he changed this statement back in 2012 and returned for this year's Olympics instead because, during that time, he just wanted things to be over and that he was forcing it to be done. This time however, Phelps said that he did play according to how he planned it and how he wanted it to turn out.
